Eloping in Canada doesn’t have to mean Banff or bust. This country is massive and full of wild, quiet, jaw-dropping spots that most people have never even heard of—and you don’t have to climb a mountain at sunrise to get the magic. (Unless you want to. Then I’ll bring snacks and crampons hehe.)
I’m Kate—your elopement photographer and planner—and I’ve curated one hidden gem from every province to inspire your dream day. These aren’t just pretty places…they’re backdrops for stories that feel real, intimate, and entirely you.
Have a favourite place in the country in mind but have no idea where to start or if its even possible to elope in that location?! Make sure to hit me up anyways and I will give you the rundown and do all the hard work researching for you!
Now let’s jump into these awesome locations! I did one per province (except Nunavut for travel and logistic reasons) but DONT BE FOOLED, I truly think this country is one of the most beautiful in the world and there are way more locations to fit your vision in each, these are just some personal loves.
Cottage-core coziness meets classic Canadian wilderness.
This may not be the MOST hidden gem, but its by far my favourite area in Ontario, lakes lakes and more lakes, so many lakkkkesss! Ditch the city and head north to the land of wooden docks, misty lakes, and golden light through pine trees. A Muskoka elopement could look like morning coffee in a cozy cabin, vows on a dock at sunrise, a canoe ride to a private island, and an intimate dinner on the deck under the stars.
📍 Hidden gem bonus: Hardy Lake Provincial Park – quiet trails, rocky lookouts, and less foot traffic than Algonquin.
Banff’s wilder, quieter cousin.
K-Country brings allll the rugged mountain beauty but without the crowds. Think alpine lakes, secret waterfalls, and wide-open meadows. The rockies are more than Banff, I promise.
Your day might include a sunrise ceremony with a mountain backdrop, exploring the forest together, and then heading into Canmore for a cozy post-elopement dinner. Pure magic, without the hustle.
Waterfall central—and no crowds.
This lesser-known gem has over 40 waterfalls, moody old-growth forest, and alpine lakes. It’s perfect for couples who want that wild west coast feel without the sea of influencers.
Say your vows at Helmcken Falls (bigger than Niagara!) and explore the park before curling up in a cabin or glamping tent in the woods.
B.C. Part 2?!
This one is pure coastal magic. You’ll hike a moderate 45-minute trail through the forest (totally doable, but bring boots), and suddenly—bam—you’re on a secluded beach with a waterfall cascading off a cliff into the ocean.
Hiking in with your love and your vow book, changing into your attire on the beach, and saying “I do” with the Pacific at your feet and the waterfall misting in the distance. Maybe you even dip your toes in after. Maybe you don’t. You’re a coastal icon either way.
Cobblestone streets, castle views, and major European vibes—without the flight.
Old Québec is dripping with romance. With its fairytale architecture, winding alleys, and the iconic Château Frontenac watching over the city, it’s the perfect spot for couples who want a wedding day that feels like stepping into a storybook.
Your elopement here could include sunrise vows on the Dufferin Terrace overlooking the St. Lawrence River, a first dance in a tucked-away cobblestone alley, and a cozy candlelit dinner at one of the city’s historic bistros. Want drama? Add a horse-drawn carriage ride or get photos under twinkling string lights in Quartier Petit Champlain.
📍 Bonus: It’s walkable AF. You can go from ceremony to celebration on foot..with croissants and espresso stops in between.
White sand, turquoise waves, and wild coastal magic.
This lesser-known part of Keji is on the south shore and feels like a whole other world. You’ll hike through forest trails that open onto white beaches and crashing waves.
Picture a barefoot seaside ceremony, salty wind in your hair, and a lobster dinner at a local shack afterward. Coastal cottage-core meets low-key adventure.
Remote, rugged, and deeply soulful.
This island is a cultural and visual dream: modern architecture meets ancient rock, wild ocean views, and that salty, wind-blown magic.
Stay at the iconic Fogo Island Inn or find a little fishing stage to say your vows by. There’s something deeply grounding about this place.
Big skies, bison, and a whole lotta peace.
This spot is unreal at sunrise or sunset—the prairie light hits different. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into another world with the rolling hills, ancient badlands, and wide open sky.
Perfect for minimalist couples who want space to just be and breathe. Was your favourite movie when you were a kid “Spirit” or “The Lion King”?! Im getting “everything the light touches vibes”.
Red cliffs, soft sand, and that warm East Coast glow.
Way quieter than Cavendish but just as stunning, Thunder Cove offers dramatic coastlines and dreamy beach vibes. Say your vows with red sandstone behind you, wander the dunes, and then grab fresh seafood from a roadside stand. Chill, romantic, and coastal perfection.
Dramatic waterfalls + boreal forest = moody elopement dream.
One of the province’s tallest waterfalls and a total hidden treasure. Hike the suspension bridge trails, exchange vows with the falls roaring behind you, and take in the untouched Northern wilderness.
It’s remote—but worth it if you want something powerful and wild.
The highest point in the Maritimes—with 360° views.
It’s not well known, but it’s incredible. Your elopement here could include a sunrise hike, a mountaintop ceremony, and a cozy cabin celebration by the lake.
And if you’re into starry skies? This park is also a designated dark sky preserve. Lets get the cosmos shining behind you, witnessing your love.
Dramatic peaks, tundra vibes, and serious sacred energy.
This place is unlike anywhere else in Canada. The jagged peaks and vast tundra feel ancient and untouched.
If you’re the adventurous type, this is a once-in-a-lifetime elopement setting. Think helicopter drop, mountain-top vows, and serious main character energy. And speaking of favourite movies I cant help but think of Lord of the Rings when I see this park, high on my bucket list!
Serenity, stillness, and maybe even the Northern Lights.
Located just outside of Yellowknife, this lakeside park is peaceful and gorgeous, especially in fall. Say your vows under the open sky, explore rocky outcrops and boreal forest, and end the night with a fire under the stars—or if you’re lucky, a full aurora show.
Let’s Get You Married—The Non-Traditional Way
This list is just the beginning. Every location here is a doorway into a totally personalized elopement experience—and I’m here to help you plan every step of it.
From flights and permits to cabins and florals, I’ve got you. You just have to show up and be madly in love.
